Notes from the Field: The Shokunin Coat, Two Months In

Most of what we learn about a garment happens after it leaves the worktable. The Shokunin Coat was designed with intention, but its real story begins in wear.

After two months of regular use, the fabric has started to speak. High-contact points soften. Stitch lines relax. Indigo settles into the creases we didn’t draw on paper. These changes aren’t flaws — they’re confirmation that the work is doing what it was meant to do.

We build slowly so we can observe honestly. Field notes like these inform the next pattern adjustment, the next material choice, the next decision to leave something exactly as it is.

The coat will continue to change. We’ll continue to pay attention.
